Littleton High School
Adams City High School
This game was definitely a good game for our entire program of players, coaches, the school, and the community as a whole. It was a good test of the Adams Cityâs will and resilience as the Eagles were forced to make well needed adjustments to compete and ultimately pull away from a talented Littleton squad. For the first time this season ACHS was able to provide strong play in every phase (Offense/Defense/Special Teams) of the game across the board to put their own signature stamp on this highly competitive contest. The win was the first Homecoming victory in many years of unsuccessful attempts. The victory also lifts the Eagles back to an even 2 – 2 mark before heading into their final non league test against the 2 – 2 Far North East Warriors next Saturday. An Eagle win next week would give the team a well needed boost of momentum before heading into their first Plains League test on the road against Heritage High School on October 5, 2017 @ 6:00 p.m.
Adams City leads 8 – 7 at the end of the 1st quarter after TD pass and a safety and giving up a score on a pick 6.
The Eagles score again early in the 2nd quarter to take the lead 16 – 7 before giving up a score on the ground with just under 2 minutes remaining in the half. Score at the half: EAGLES 16 – LIONS 14
The Eagles threatened to score on a pair of drives as did the LIons, but to no avail both teams engaged in a strong defensive battle that brought the 3rd quarter to a close with the score still 16 – 14.
The 4th quarter featured a fireworks show of offensive display via both ground and air attack by the Eagles that would score twice in the air and once by way of the run. A total of 22 points were scored and all of those points were scored by the Adams City Eagles to pull away and seal the deal for the win 38 – 14.
